BRIGHT SPOT READING BUDDY PROGRAMS IN SCHOOLS & LIBRARIES

Reading is the key to opening doors to knowledge and adventure.  When children learn to enjoy reading at a young age, they have a lifetime to explore the world of books and lifelong learning.

The Bright Spot Reading Buddy Program is designed to help readers on all levels. All students benefit from reading aloud to practice their fluency and further strengthen their confidence in reading.  The canine reading buddy provides a gentle, non-threatening, comforting listener.

Therapy dogs in the Bright Spot Reading Buddy Program are evaluated and certified through Bright Spot Therapy Dogs, Inc.  Their handlers, as members of Bright Spot, are covered under the organization’s volunteer liability insurance and hold a signed veterinary health form attesting to the dog’s good health.

Information for Bright Spot Certified Volunteers:  For details on becoming a Reading Buddy Team, please refer to the Bright Spot Handbook located on the members only section of our website.

Information for Schools and Libraries:  If you are interested in starting a Bright Spot Reading Buddy Program at your school or library, please download our New Facility Form under Information for Facilities.

PLEASE NOTE:  Our service area is western Massachusetts. Implementing a Bright Spot Reading Buddy Program in your school or library is dependent upon availability of a trained Reading Buddy Team in your location.
